Thiruvananthapuram: Finance minister Thomas Issac, on Thursday while presenting the budget for the 2019-2020 fiscal year at the state assembly, said that the construction of Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod parallel high-speed rail corridor will begin this year.
The 515 kilometre corridor is estimated a budget of Rs 55,000 crores and will be built in partnership of state and central government. By actualizing the rail track, travelling from top end of the state to the bottom end can be covered in 4 hours, said Thomas Issac.
The budget announced on Thursday is the fourth budget of Pinarayi Vijayan’s government and the 10th budget of announced by Thomas Issac.
The finance minister before setting off for the presentation of budget had told the media persons that the state was undergoing a tough financial crisis.
