Covid Brigade member, who lost job, found dead

Thiruvananthapuram: A security guard who was working as part of Covid Brigade was found dead here on Saturday morning. The deceased is identified as Mannanthala Chenchery native Jins Joseph (39), former security staff at medical college. He was found hanging from a tree near his house on Saturday morning. It is suspected that financial crisis was the reason for suicide.

Jins has been working as security guard at Thiruvananthapuram medical college for about one and a half years as part of Covid Brigade. He lost his job a month ago after Covid Brigade was dissolved.

He was already having financial issues and the loss of job intensified his problems, his friends said. Also he had to receive Rs 40,000 as incentive. He used to discuss these matters with his friends.

Jins Joseph’s father died a week ago. It was his friends who arranged the amount for funeral. Jins was trying for another job after losing the security job in medical college. He was an auto driver before.

Jins is unmarried. He is survived by mother Vasantha and sister Jisha. Mannanthala police registered a case.
