KSRTC lightning strike leaves passengers stranded


Thiruvananthapuram: KSRTC employees in Kozhikode, Kannur and Kottayam districts have called for a lightning strike in protest over assigning Kudumbashree to handle the reservation counter. Bus service from these depots have been disrupted. The joint trade union said that the protest will be intensified across the state.

Following the lightning strike by the staff, KSRTC stopped training of Kudumbashree members. The staff were staging strike in protest over entrusting the duty in reservation counter to Kudumbashree workers.

However, the striking unions have clarified that they will end the strike only if they are informed in writing about ending the training. The bus service from Thiruvananthapuram depot also was stopped following the strike called by joint trade union but now it is learnt that they have ended the strike.

A minor clash occurred in the protest staged by joint trade union at Thiruvananthapuram KSRTC station. They were protesting in front of the reservation counter in order to prevent the Kudumbashree workers from entering the counter.

Later, the police attempted to arrest them which led to clashes. The transport minister had declared that he will meet the trade union leaders to discuss the issue on Tuesday.
