Kannur: Shuhaib murder case accused Akash Thillankeri, who surrendered before the police on Friday evening, was issued bail minutes after a meeting was convened in the presence of CPM district secretary MV Jayarajan at Mattanur Local Committee office. Interestingly, Thillankeri local committee members attended the meeting.

MV Jayarajan remarked that the party's stand towards Thillankeri remains the same. He reiterated that Thillankeri is part of a quotation gang and not of the party.

"Those who support Thillankeri or react to his social media posts are getting involved in anti-party activities," he added.

However, CPM leaders reacted that only a casual meeting was held in the Mattanur area committee office on Friday. "A march headed by CPM state secretary MV Govindan will arrive in Mattanur next week. The meeting was called to discuss this matter," they added.

Meanwhile, it is alleged that police colluded with the party to immediately release Thillankeri on bail after recording his arrest on Friday. Further, media personnel were barred from taking his photo when he was produced before court.
