Kayamkulam: A thief broke into the Kayamkulam Magistrate Court on Wednesday night. The matter came to light when the staff reached the court in the morning.
The thief entered the chamber of the magistrate and the room where material evidence are kept. He disarranged the things on the judge's table and smashed a laptop.
Kayamkulam police examined the court following the theft attempt. Finger print experts collected evidence. The police said that the thief entered the court after disconnecting electricity supply. It is not clear whether anything has been stolen.
As many important cases are under trial in the court, the police are taking the incident seriously. Authorities said they could tell if any document is missing only after detailed examination.
The premises of the court are hidden by overgrown plants. A few months ago, a thief had broken into the advocates' room.
