Idukki lottery seller falls asleep after dialysis session; loses cash, tickets

Thodupuzha: An elderly lottery seller in Idukki who fell asleep due to fatigue from dialysis session woke up to realise that his bag containing tickets and cash were stolen. The incident happened on Friday 7 pm.

Ayyappan, a native of Panchavadi here, is engaged in lottery sales at the BSNL junction. He had a dialysis session on Friday. After the session, he purchased lotteries from an agent for Rs 2,000. He had kept the lotteries and money in his bag.

However, while sitting at the junction for lottery sales he fell asleep. When he woke up, he realised that somebody has stolen his bag.

CCTV visuals from the nearby establishments showed that a person who approached the old man on the pretext of buying lottery tickets took away the bag. The man also visited a nearby hotel, visuals show.

The old man has been earning his livelihood from lottery sales. He has kidney-related ailments and cannot do hard work. He has urged authorities concerned to recover his bag.
