Swapna Suresh, Shaj Kiran
Kochi: Shaj Kiran, whose name has come up in the recent controversies concerning the gold smuggling case, said that he has no connections with political leaders, including the CM. He told the media that he has known Swapna Suresh for the last 60 days and that they used to converse frequently. He also added that the last time he saw CM was at a press meeting.
Gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh had said that she was threatened by Shaj Kiran to withdraw the statement made against CM Pinarayi Vijayan. Shaj Kiran addressed the media after this allegation was levelled against him.
“I met Swapna over the matter of land business. I have known her only for 60 days and have not seen Sivasankar anywhere except on TV. If there is any proof of CPM leaders, Sivasankar or Congress leaders calling me, then I will admit that the allegations are true. If Swapna has the voice recording, let her go ahead and make it public,” he said.
“I went to Palakkad when Swapna cried out saying ‘please save me’ after Sarith was taken away. It was after crossing Mannuthy that I came to know that it was the Vigilance that took him away. When I got there, Swapna told me that she has epilepsy and asked me to stay. That is why I sat next to her and talked to her.” Shaj Kiran said that he was with her till 6 pm that evening.
“I did not get acquainted with Swapna as a former journalist, but over land dealings. She had entrusted me to sell her land. She had come to see me after recording her statement under section 164. I did not ask her anything about that.”
“I will meet Swapna in person. I want to hear her say it. The Swapna I know would never say something like this. I had asked Swapna if she said it because of any external pressure, which she denied. I did not ask her anything else,” he added.
