Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress disciplinary committee has decided to intimate KPCC president to stress that veteran MP Shashi Tharoor should abide by party system and its precedents. The decision was arrived at the meeting held under the presence of committee chairman and Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan.

The committee pointed out that though Tharoor has every freedom to attend any event as a leader of party, the same should be intimated to respective DCC under which the event takes place. It is one of the institutionalised precedent and even senior leaders abide to it.

However, the committee referring to the northern Kerala tour noted that the recent episode does not suggest any anti-party activity. Reports quoting inside sources said his move caused misunderstanding among senior leaders and was aimed at creating factionalism with a parallel pursuit of his own.

The committee reportedly received many complaints over Tharoor’s northern Kerala tour. Meanwhile, reports also said that the state leadership has been closely observing Tharoor’s tour to ascertain whether there is any particular agenda as it was not done with the knowledge of central leadership.
