Thiruvananthapuram: Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has given a hint about his plans to contest the Congress presidential election. He declared that he will declare the decision within three weeks.

In an article written on english.mathrubhumi.com, he shared his desire for an AICC post and hinted that an announcement could likely follow.

On Wednesday, he told the media that a decision could be taken after holding talks on the matter.

"The notification of the election will be released on September 22. There are three weeks until then. Before that, talks have to be held and a decision had to be taken. Let's wait until the notification is out," he said.

Meanwhile, Tharoor doesn't dismiss questions about whether he will compete or not but calls "competition" idle for a democratic party.

Tharoor, in reply to a question on leaders from 'Hindi' speaking areas, he told that he also speaks the language and added that any Indian can obtain the post irrespective of language. Meanwhile, KPCC President K Sudhakaran backed Tharoor and stated that he holds every right to contest the election for the AICC chief post.
