Nedumangad: An orphaned pregnant woman hailing from Palode in Thiruvananthapuram gave birth to a healthy baby girl here, all thanks to ‘Thanal’, a non-governmental organisation in Nedumanagad.

Reportedly, the woman, who arrived at the hospital for delivery, did not have any bystanders. Her parents were no more and husband had left her three months back.

As there was no one with her, the hospital authorities were not ready to admit her. Following which, Thanal’s treasurer Maya VS Nair arrived at the hospital and assured to stay with her.

Meanwhile, Thanal activists informed the police and the woman’s husband and relatives, who were in Kollam, were called and brought to the hospital. The NGO also provided for the woman's necessary expenses for a month.
