Thiruvananthapuram: Though police claim that the murder of Gayathri at a hotel room in Thampanoor was a pre-meditated crime, accused Praveen has reportedly denied it. He told police that he had taken room along with Gayathri to sort out the issues between them. But unfortunately it ended up in murder.

Praveen, who booked a room in the hotel on Saturday night, brought Gayathri to the hotel later. He wanted to get rid of the relationship with Gayathri and appease his first wife before departing to Thiruvannamalai as he managed to get a transfer. But Gayathri insisted to take her also and refused to end the relationship.

Praveen’s statement indicates that a verbal battle broke out between both of them and Gayathri even attempted to kill herself. Meanwhile, she put the pictures of their marriage as her WhatsApp status, which provoked Praveen and he killed her.

The accused later decided to turn the murder as suicide. He took Gayathri’s mobile phone with him and received the phone calls of her relatives. He also shared Gayathri’s WhatsApp status in her Facebook account with a caption ‘Love you’. But when he consulted a lawyer on the same night, the lawyer urged him to surrender to the police. Following this, he called the hotel by 12.30 pm and informed them about Gayathri’s body lying in the room.
