Thachankary, Sandhya omitted as Kerala govt prepares 8-member list for next police chief

Thiruvananthapuram: A list of eight potential candidates to take charge as the next police chief of Kerala will be submitted later this week to the Union Government. The list will comprise five senior police officials from the state and three officials on deputation in the central service.

Upon submission of the list, the Union Public Service Commission will prepare a panel and return it to the state government. The state government can select the new police chief from this panel. The current police chief Anil Kant will retire on June 30.

The names included in the list are Police Headquarters ADGP K Padmakumar, Crime Branch head Dr Shaik Darvesh Saheb, Intelligence ADGP TK Vinod Kumar, Coastal Police ADGP Sanjeeb Kumar Patjoshi, Beverage Corporation MD Yogesh Gupta, CRPF Special Director Nidhin Agarwal and Intelligence Beaurue Additional Directors Harinath Mishra, and Rawada Chandrashekhar.

Meanwhile, the government has omitted Human Rights Commission DGP Tomin J Thachankary, Kerala Fire and Rescue Services head Dr B Sandhya, Excise Commissioner S Anandakrishnan, and SPG director Arun Kumar Sinha.
