Mettupalayam: A Keralite driver sustained injures during the protest over the murder of a Hindu Munnani activist in Coimbatore.
Balakrishnan (46), who hails from Palakkad and currently staying at Kottakamba in Kotagiri, was injured when a petrol bomb was hurled at his lorry.
The incident happened around 1 pm on Friday as Balakrishnan was proceeding to Kotagiri with his sand-laden lorry from Karur.
As the fire spread to driver's seat from cabin, Balakrishnan jumped into the road and the lorry fell into a gorge.
The miscreants escaped in a two-wheeler.
Balakrishnan sustained burns on his right hand and shoulder. He has been admitted to Mettupalayam government hospital.
