Kottayam: Vaikom police have arrested a bike-borne pair over theft cases in multiple districts. The accused have been identified as Alappuzha natives Saritha (28) and Muhammad Anwarsha (23).

The duo was caught from Ettumanoor after a probe on theft at Vaikundapuram temple. According to police, the duo has been booked in theft cases in Alappuzha. Idukki and Kollam.

The officials explained the pattern followed by the accused while committing temple thefts. The duo have been together since 2018. They never used to stay anywhere long, but camped in lodges near where they planned their theft.

They used bikes for commuting and the modus operandi was destroying the hundial (collection box for offerings) and then taking the money from it. After theft they will switch to another location and camp in another lodge for the next theft.
