Thiruvananthapuram: The Travancore Devaswom Board has approached National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) seeking details on compensation package for temple land acquisition in Kerala.
The land acquisition relating to NH 66 development encompasses the stretch between Aroor and Kazhakkoottam. The moves comes as NHAI remains mute on the compensation package.
The Devaswom Commissioner has urged the NHAI to take a decision on the matter within a month. The land acquisition should be on the basis of consent of the board, the letter said.
Further procedures related to land acquisition should not be pursued until a decision is taken on compensation package, it pointed out.
The board has also enclosed the copies of Kerala High Court verdicts on related writ petitions.
The temple land to be acquired comes under various boards of different districts. The temples are under groups of Haripad, Karunagappally, Kollam, Ambalappuzha and Vaikom.
