Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader VD Satheesan stated that the civil rights activist Teesta Setalvad had revealed the CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury and team visited the riot-affected regions in Gujarat in 2002 with her had absconded in fear of Narendra Modi.

Satheesan said the statement was given in the book ‘Gujrat: Theevra Sakshyangal’ penned by Krishnan Mohanlal. He later read a few excerpts from the book.

The Opposition leader’s move was to retaliate against the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s allegations that Congress president Sonia Gandhi did not meet Zakia Jaffri, the widow of Ehzan Jaffri, who was killed in the riot. Pinarayi quoted former Gujarat DGP RB Sreekumar’s book.
