Teenager jailed for 35 days on false rape charges: State Human Rights Commission orders inquiry
Malappuram: The state human rights commission has ordered an inquiry into the incident in which a 19-year old boy was jailed for 35 days over false rape charges. He was booked for raping and impregnating a minor girl. The commission ordered the probe after the DNA result of the child turn out negative.
Baiju Nath, a member of the commission directed the Malappuram district police chief to investigate the incident and submit a report within two weeks. The commisson registered a suo moto case after the issue was widely covered by the media.
The youth was lodged in the Tirur sub-jail for 35 days on the complaint of the girl. As per the complaint, the girl was taken to his house after school and raped.
Kalpakancherry police had registered a case against the youth and Tirurangadi police conducted further investigation. The youth was later released on bail after the DNA test came out negative.
