Teacher loses Rs 9 lakh after responding to call from ‘bank manager’ in Kannur
Kannur: A woman who responded to a caller claiming to be a ‘bank manager’ revealed her account number, username and password and lost Rs 9 lakh. The woman who hails from Pallikkunnu in Kannur is working as a teacher.
On June 26, somebody called the woman on her mobile phone and introduced himself as the manager of SBI. The caller said that a platinum card has been granted to her and it requires username, ATM card number and password for the purpose.
The woman did not have any suspicion about this request and gave her credentials to the caller. Later, she realised that Rs 9 lakh was lost from her bank account in the next days. With this, she lodged a complaint with the SP.
