Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Police has transferred ownership of the virtual queue system, which allows devotees to book for darshan at Sabarimala, to the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB). The board has signed a contract with Tata Consultancy, which provides technical support.

The board will handle the booking when the temple opens for Thula month Pooja. Meanwhile, around 50 board staff received training on how to use the virtual queue system.

The virtual queue was implemented by ADGP P Chandrashekharan, who was in charge of security at Sabarimala from 2010 to 2011. It was not made mandatory for all pilgrims. Until the onset of Covid, only the ones who were interested had to book using the virtual queue.
