Thiruvananthapuram: Setbacks one after the other have put the Congress party into further turmoil, with the latest one being senior leader Ramesh Chennithala quitting important responsibilities bestowed on him.
He resigned from the post of President of Jaihind party channel, Chairman of Rajiv Gandhi Institute and K Karunakaran Foundation. Chennithala handed over the resignation papers to KPCC leadership. However, the leadership is yet to accept the resignations.
Earlier, senior Congress leader VM Sudheeran resigned from AICC and Political Affairs Committee. AICC General Secretary in charge of the state Tariq Anwar spoke to Sudheeran in a bid to convince him to revoke his decision. Sudheeran demanded a set of changes in the functioning of the state leadership and also criticised the new leadership.
With the resignation of Chennithala, the central leadership has to sweat a lot to clear the chaos in the state faction.
