Wild elephant herd in Perambra estate

Perambra: A woman employee of Perambra estate in Kozhikode which comes under the Plantation Corporation had a narrow escape from a wild elephant attack. Rubber tapping employee Laisamma John had a close call from the elephant on Tuesday at around 5.30 am.

The incident happened when Laisamma was heading for work with her husband and other coworkers. A wild elephant from a herd came out of the forest region, rushed and charged towards the tapping workers. Though everyone fled, Laisamme slipped and fell down while running. The elephant ran and created a trumpeting sound before lifting a leg towards her.

Meanwhile, her husband John screamed in panic and ran up to her while the other workers also shrieked in fear to drive away the elephant. With this, the elephant left the spot.

Laisamma underwent treatment at a hospital in Chakkittapara after sustaining minor injuries on her leg.
