Tanur tragedy: Boat owner Nasser not cooperating with probe, say police

Malappuram: The Kerala police have been quizzing Nasser, owner of the ‘Atlantic’ boat which resulted in the death of 22 individuals in Tanur here. According to the police, the accused carried out boat services despite being fully aware of its risks and legal issues.

Speaking to media persons, Malappuram SP Sujith Das said that Nasser is not cooperating with the interrogation. The incident has been considered a case of murder and investigation too is probed under that ambit.

“The case has been registered under IPC section 302. The boat driver Dineshan is absconding. After questioning Nasser, we will expedite efforts and nab all other accused soon,” said Sujith Das.

Nasser was nabbed from Elathur in Kozhikode after police received a tip-off that he was hiding inside a house in the area. Meanwhile, police have intensified their search to catch the driver.
