Tanur: Fate dealt a cruel blow to Saithalavi, a native of Malappuram, when the Tanur boat accident claimed the lives of 11 of his family members, including three women and four children. This devastating incident occurred during a family gathering to celebrate the holidays, leaving Saithalavi with only his mother and siblings.

The family, consisting of Saithalavi, his siblings Kunnummal Jabir and Kunnummal Siraj, as well as their wives and children, had assembled at their family home. When Sunday arrived, the children pleaded for a boat ride, prompting the ill-fated decision that the family was ill-prepared to handle.

Before departing from home, Saithalavi had cautioned the children against taking a boat ride. He dropped them off at Kattangal and returned home. After arriving home, he attempted to contact his wife, but all he could hear was the sound of frantic cries on the other end. Without delay, he rushed to the site of the accident, only to find the lifeless bodies of his beloved family members.

The deceased include Jalsiya, Jareer, Naira, Rushda, Sahara, Seenath, Shamna, Hasna and Safna and Siraj's wife and his 10-month-old baby. Only eight members are left alive in this family now.

The untimely boat accident in Tanur has claimed the lives of at least 22 passengers. Rescue operations are underway.
