When the accident happened Gireesh and tyre shop owner Chandrasekharan Nair were inside the tailoring shop of Bhaskaran. Tailor shop owner had left Mundoor on his bike only 15 seconds before the mishap. Gireesh and Chandrasekharan were browsing their mobile phones sitting inside the tailor shop and a staff of this shop, Dasan, was also inside. The mobile phone and Bhaskaran’s tailor shop saved them from a tragic mishap, said Gireesh.

Over 24 lorries had overturned at Panniyampadam curve till date. A huge traffic congestion was experienced on the Kozhikode- Palakkad National Highway as police restricted vehicles on this path in view of ensuring security to the tanker.

An electric pole was damaged and lines snapped in the accident which caused power failure in the locality on Tuesday night. People also panicked due to the fully loaded LPG tanker which was not removed from the roadside. However, the authorities ensured security to the tanker.
