Popular Kollywood director-actor RNR Manohar passes away in Chennai

Chennai: Popular Tamil director-actor RNR Manohar passed away here on Wednesday afternoon. He was 61.

Reportedly, Manohar who was undergoing treatment for Covid-19 at a private hospital in Chennai, suffered a heart attack today.

Manohar started his film career as an assistant director in KS Ravi Kumar’s movie Band Master. He started his acting career with hugely popular Malayalam director IV Sasi’s Tamil movie ‘Kolangal’. He was the also assistant director in the film.

He has acted in more than 50 films. This includes Kanjana 3, Ayogya, Kaapaan, Kithi, Bhoomi, Teddy, Dhil, Veeram, Salim, Miruthan and Andavan Kattale. Masilamani released in 2009 was Manohar’s debut as an independent director. In 2011, he directed a movie called Vellur Maavattam.

Notably, Manohar’s son passed Rajan away in the year 2012 after drowning in the school swimming pool, sparking a huge debate. In the incident, five including the swimming trainer in the school were arrested.
