Thiruvananthapuram: The strike by inter-state buses will continue as the talks between state transport minister A. K. Saseendran and the bus owner’s association failed.
Interstate bus services were on an indefinite strike from Monday to protest against Operation Night Riders by the Motor Vehicles Department to seize buses operating without permit. The Association said that MVD must stop imposing fine unnecessary as it was destroying the sector.
During the meeting, the association asked the minister to stop vehicle inspections. However, minister Saseendran refused and clarified that the inspections will continue.
The minister offered to conduct the inspections without inconveniencing the passengers or bus employees. But the offer was rejected by the association.
