Thiruvananthapuram: Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau on Saturday questioned former PWD minister V. K. Ebrahim Kunju in connection with the Palarivattom flyover scam.
Ebrahim Kunju has told the vigilance that T. O. Sooraj’s statement was baseless. Speaking to the media afterwards, the former minister said he answered all questions during the three-hour long questioning at the Vigilance office at Poojapura, here.
Earlier, PWD secretary T. O. Sooraj had told the vigilance that he gave advance payment to construction company RDS Projects. Ebrahim Kunju told the vigilance that Sooraj’s statement was baseless and untrustworthy.
“In all the files regarding payments regarding the flyover, all the govt officials had mentioned that advance amount can be given to the company. Based on this, I also recorded that there was nothing wrong in granting an advance amount to the company,” Ebrahim Kunju said.
Though vigilance had questioned Ebrahim Kunju earlier, they could not get a clear response from him. But on Saturday, the vigilance questioned him after preparing a detailed questionnaire based on investigations.
Vigilance officials said that after further inquiry, Ebrahim Kunju may be summoned for further questioning if needed.
