T O Sooraj bought land in son’s name for Rs 3.3 cr during flyover construction: Vigilance
Kochi: The Vigilance has found that former PWD principal secretary T. O. Sooraj, who was arrested in connection with Palarivattom flyover scam, had engaged in black money transaction through benami deal. Vigilance revealed that T. O. Sooraj disclosed he had purchased 15 cent land in Ernakulam under his son’s name in 2012-14 and Rs 2 crore used for this was black money.
Vigilance also stated that Sooraj had reiterated that former PWD minister Ebrahim Kunju has a role in corruption. They made it clear in the affidavit that Sooraj was involved in corruption. According to the findings, T. O. Sooraj purchased land under different benami names in 2012-14 and a 15-cent land and a house in his son’s name.
Though Rs 3.3 crore was used for purchasing the land, only Rs 1.4 crore is shown in the title deed. Vigilance also stated in the affidavit that Sooraj admitted Rs 2 crore in this amount was black money. Rs 8.25 crore was allotted as advance for RDS company in August 2014. Sooraj bought the land two months after this.
