Syro Malabar Church land scam: Circular slams Cardinal, police
Kochi: The Ernakulam-Angamaly Vicar General has issued a circular criticizing Cardinal and police in the Syro Malabar Church land scam. The circular demanded that CBI probe is required to find the truth of the documents. The explanatory note which was read in different churches also pointed out that the priest hasn’t tried to forge documents.
The circular explicitly criticized the Cardinal. The archdiocese should have protected the young man Adithyan who was framed for forging the documents. But Cardinal didn’t do anything for that. The circular also mentioned that Adithyan had to face physical torture from police.
A group of devotees protested by setting fire to the circular at archdiocese headquarters after they got hint that it will be read in the church. Special prayer session was held at different churches after reading out the circular.
Case was registered for creating fake bank account in the name of Mar Alencherry. Fr. Paul Thelakkat is the first accused. Adithyan had sent the documents to Fr. Thelakatt via email. Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Ernakulam Mar Jacob Manathodath, Adithyan, Fr. Tony Kallookaran are second, third and fourth accused respectively.
