Thiruvananthapuram: A house was destroyed here in Neyyattinkara after a swimming pool in the neighbouring house burst on Thursday night.
The incident took place at Venpakal in Neyyattinkara. The swimming pool inside the house of Santhosh Kumar burst and the water rushed into the house of his neighbour Gopalakrishnan Nair.
The water destroyed the compound wall and a portion of Gopalakrishnan Nair’s house. There were damages to the kitchen as well. Water and mud entered the house.
There was leakage when the swimming pool was filled with water. As soon as water leaking from the pool reached Gopalakrishnan Nair’s house the pool completely burst.
Santhosh had started constructing the swimming pool 4 months ago. The pool was situated 35 feet above Gopalakrishnan Nair’s house and was being constructed without any safety precautions.
It is also alleged that the pool was constructed without permission and that the police and panchayat officials were not ready to investigate the matter despite complaints.
