Swapna Suresh was appointed with Chief Minister's knowledge, says ED charge sheet
Kochi: The charge sheet submitted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) stated that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was aware of Swapna Suresh’s appointment in Space Park.
The ED charge sheet, related to the probe on black money transactions in the Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case, also mentioned that Swapna was appointed as she was trusted by M Sivasankar, who was the Principal Secretary of the Chief Minister.
Swapna and Sivasankar had met several times. They even met in the presence of the Chief Minister five or six times. The charge sheet also mentioned that Sivasankar assured Swapna Suresh that he would speak to the Chief Minister to appoint her in Space Park.
Sivasankar asked Swapna to meet Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Ltd (KSITIL) MD and special officer Santhosh. later, Santhosh called Swapna and asked her enter the job. Quoting Swapna Suresh, ED stated in the charge sheet that she was asked to meet them to understand her responsibilities at Space Park.
The charge sheet said that Sivasankar was also involved in Swapna’s financial transactions. ED also informed the court that a detailed investigation should be launched against Sivasankar.
The ED stated in the charge sheet that Swapna Suresh, Sarith and Sandeep Nair were involved in black money transactions.
The 23-page charge sheet is submitted to stop the accused from securing bail. According to ED, it has been proved that all three accused have committed offences as per the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). In the charge sheet submitted at the Principal Sessions Court, the ED demanded to start trial proceedings against the accused.
The ED submitted the charge sheet when the court was about to consider the bail plea of the accused.
