Swapna, Sandeep test COVID -ve; court to consider custody request today
Kochi: Swapna Suresh and Sandeep Nair, accused in the gold smuggling case, tested negative for COVID-19. The NIA Special Court in Kochi will consider the plea of NIA for custody of the accused on Monday. The NIA has requested the accused in custody for 10 days.
The NIA special court will consider the plea after 11 am. The request for 10 days in custody is likely to be accepted. As the COVID results of the accused are negative, there are no other problems to send them in custody.
NIA will approach the court soon to get Sarith, who is in custody of the Customs presently. Also the Customs will approach the court for getting other accused in their custody for interrogation.
According to reports, Swapna will be taken from the COVID care centre in Thrissur to Kochi by 9 am. However, this is yet to be confirmed. The police force from Kochi have to reach here to take Swapna to Kochi.
After bringing Swapna in the COVID care centre in Thrissur, security was tightened. Four women officers were assigned for monitoring. The police patrolling was imposed on the premises of the centre every two hours.
