Thiruvananthapuram: Director General of Prisons Rishi Raj Singh has sought a detailed investigation into the alleged audio clip of gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh. Singh has sent a letter to state police chief Loknath Behera in this regard.
The letter demands to identify the person who recorded the audio clip along with the date and place of recording. The letter also demands to find out the authenticity of the audio clip and how a news portal received it.
Earlier, Rishi Raj Singh had appointed Prions DIG Ajayakumar. The DIG held inspections at Attakulangara prison and recorded Swapna’s statement. The DIG later told the media that the voice clip was not recorded in the prison.
Meanwhile, Swapna clarified that the voice clip was hers but she did not remember when it was recorded. The DIG had confirmed this.
In the voice clip, Swapna was heard saying that the investigation agencies were forcing her to give a statement against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The voice clip also mentioned that Swapna would be allowed to turn approver in the case if she gave a statement against the CM.
