Concerns have been raised over the hasty postmortem of a bison that died at Thiruvananthapuram zoo.

The animal's health had been deteriorating for several days, and despite receiving special attention, it struggled to eat. The cause of death will only be confirmed after the postmortem report is received.

Internal organs from the bison have been sent to Palakkad State Institute for Animal Disease for investigation.

This incident follows the recent death of a group of deer in the zoo.

Meanwhile, officials visited Tirupati zoo on Thursday and reportedly plan to bring in lions, white peacocks, and wild hens to Thiruvananthapuram zoo. They are also considering handing over wild buffaloes to Tirupati zoo and replacing them with other animals.
