Suspended DGP Jacob Thomas reinstated to service, appointed as Steel and Metal Industries MD
Thiruvananthapuram: The Cabinet meet has decided to reinstate suspended DGP and former Vigilance Director Jacob Thomas to service. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday signed the letter appointing him as the MD of Steel and Metal Industries.
Earlier in July, Central Administrative Tribunal had ordered to reinstate Jacob Thoms to service immediately and had issued an order cancelling his suspension. However, no further action was taken over this by the state government. Following that, Thomas filed a contempt of court petition to the Tribunal on which it sought an explanation. Secretary for Home Ministry sent a file to Kerala Chief Secretary in this regard stating that the order issued by CAT would have to be implemented soon.
Meanwhile, Thomas had opined that if an appointment considering his seniority and cadre rules is offered, he might consider it.
Tribunal had ordered that if there is no vacancy in police, an equivalent post has to be offered. Following this, he has been appointed the MD of the Metal Industries in Shoranur.
The Cabinet meet also decided to appoint Dr. Baiju George as the MD of Overseas Keralites Investment and Holding Limited for a period of one year.
