Thrissur: The sample of a Chavakkad youth who died on Saturday morning has been sent to the National Institute of Virology unit in Alappuzha to test for monkeypox. The results are expected by Sunday.

The youth had returned from UAE a few days back and was undertaking treatment from a private hospital for the last three days. The health department was delayed to be informed about the case.

He was staying without any close contacts after arriving from the UAE. He was isolated and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit in the hospital here. The authorities suspect that the youth had confirmed monkeypox from UAE itself.
