Youth at Kodanad police station

Kochi: Kodanad police here on Wednesday informed that the youth who reached the police station with two children and created a ruckus is suspected as a drug addict. Ashwin, a resident of Aimury, reached the police station at noon on Tuesday with his two children aged two and a half and one and a half. Though his behaviour created panic, the police officials managed to pacify him and collected his details.

As per his statement, his wife had left him with the two children. The youth told police that his relatives are missing. The police are yet to find his wife and relatives.

As the police were unable to trace his relatives, they shifted the children to a shelter home at Pulluvazhi with the help of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). Ashwin, who became unconscious was taken to a de-addiction centre in Koovappadi.

Ashwin told the police he used to hurt his wife regularly. Police are still searching for the mother of the children. The children will be produced before the CWC on Wednesday.
