Thiruvananthapuram: An additional sessions court here on Friday sentenced 2021 Surya Gayatri murder case convict Arun to a life term and 20-year rigorous imprisonment.

The court also directed Arun to pay Rs 5 lakh to the victim’s mother Valsala.
The court noted that the convicted will first serve 20-year-long rigorous imprisonment, on completion of which the life term will follow.
The counsel for Arun pleaded with the court to consider the age and reduce the degree of the sentence. However, the court dismissed the argument and pointed out that the murder was brutal.
Arun on the other day was convicted of murder, conspiracy and burglary over the case registered in 2021.
