Surge in COVID cases: Kozhikode district administration implements strict regulations
Kozhikode: District administration has released an order to make COVID regulations in market places and harbours stricter due to the alarming rise in COVID cases in the district. 233 people had tested positive for COVID in Palayam market the other day in the district.
Quick response teams (QRTs) will be deployed in harbours and market places. The team will consist of representatives from revenue, police and local self-government departments. Police will carry out tests in front of markets and harbours.
Entry will be given to the people only after making sure that people are wearing masks and following social distancing. The QRTs will decide on how many people can enter these centres at once. Police will control the entry of people as per this.
The health department will carry out mandatory COVID testing in each of these centres. Those who are unwilling to undergo these tests will be denied entry.
31 quick response teams have been deployed in the 4 taluks of the district. 9 teams have been deployed in Beypore, Vellayil harbours, Valiyangadi, Palayam, Vengeri, Kunnamangalam- Chathamangalam, Chelannur- Kakkodi, Perumanna- Olavanna and Panniyangara of Kozhikode Taluk.
6 teams will be deployed in Unnikulam, Raroth, Koduvally, Puthuppady, Puthoor and Kizhakkoth in Thamarasheri district. 6 teams will be sent to Chembola harbour, Vadakara, Azhiyoor, Nadapuram road, Kuttyadi, Nadapuram- Kallachi, Ayanjerry, Kakkattil, Koyilandy, Perambra, Naduvannur, Meppayyur, Payyoli, Arikkulam town, Mudadi town and Koyilandi harbour.
