New Delhi/Thiruvalla: In a humiliating move, the BJP has rectified their mistake of announcing metro man E Sreedharan as their chief ministerial candidate in Kerala Assembly election within hours of declaration.
BJP state president K Surendran had announced at the Vijaya Yatra on Thursday in Thiruvalla that Sreedharan was NDA’s CM candidate in Kerala. Union Minister V Muraleedharan, who first tweeted in support of this, later made a U-turn and said that what he learned through media reports was wrong and the party chief had not made any such announcement.
However, according to reports, the national leadership disapproved Surendran’s announcement forcing him to withdraw the statement.
NDA has not announced their CM candidates in any of the five states where Assembly polls are scheduled. Usually BJP national leadership announces the candidates. It is reported that Surendran’s announcement on Sreedharan shocked the national leadership.
Surendran had said that the government under Sreedharan would put an end to stagnant developmental activities in the state and corrupt administration.
Muraleedharan tweeted in support of Surendran’s announcement and later spoke to media on the same. Soon after, he rectified the mistake and tweeted that media falsely reported Surendran’s announcement and that the latter had not said anything of that kind.
Surendran also went back on his statement and denied making any announcement on Sreedharan’s CM candidature.
BJP’s Kerala in-charge Pralhad Joshi has informed the national leadership of the latest developments in the state. He responded that Surendran’s statement was without the knowledge or approval of the national leadership.
