New Delhi: The Supreme Court has issued a stay order on the trial in the SN College Golden Jubilee fund fraud case. The order comes in response to the High Court's decision to allow the trial to proceed. The bench, headed by Justice Hrishikesh Roy, passed the stay order.

Kollam Chief Judicial Magistrate, F Minimol had ordered SNDP general secretary Vellappally Natesan to appear in person for trial.

The case dates back to 1998-99 when Rs. 55 lakhs collected for college golden jubilee celebrations transferred the funds of SN Trust. The Kollam crime branch conducted an investigation and filed a charge sheet in 2020.

Initially, the Kollam CJM was directed to conduct further investigation in the case. However, last month, the Kerala High Court overturned this order and ruled that the accused should face trial. The High Court also rejected Vellappally's request to dismiss the case. Subsequently, the matter was taken up by the Supreme Court.
