Sunitha provides shelter to 70 dogs on her 5 cent property, feeds 90 dogs

She started feeding the stray dogs after the lockdown was implemented.

Thrissur: Sunitha’s home at the 5 cent property is a shelter home to more than 70 dogs. Out of this, four are really old, 14 dogs are sick and nine are puppies. Most of these dogs were found abandoned. One of the dogs fractured its spine after a vehicle ran over it. Animal lovers had filed a case on this incident alleging that someone did it intentionally as the dog was resting on the sideway.

Apart from this, Sunitha also distributes food to more than 20 dogs. She needs a minimum of 15 kg rice per day to feed all these dogs. She gets through with the help of a lot of people.

She started feeding the stray dogs after the lockdown was implemented. Sunitha and her sister Suchitra goes to different streets on their scooter and feed the dogs.

Sunitha is an LIC agent and her husband is an auto driver. They only adopt those dogs that are weak and struggling to live. Animal lovers like Saali Varma and BM Naik have stepped forward offering help. Saali Varma was the one who helped them with a kennel for the dogs.
