Sundays’ lockdown withdrawn in Malappuram; hotels open for dine-in
Malappuram: The strict restrictions imposed in the wake of Covid pandemic in areas which are not containment zones in the district has been eased by Collector K Gopalakrishnan. The total lockdown imposed in the district on Sundays has been withdrawn. The restrictions on the timings of shops and trade centres also have been eased.
The hotels, restaurants, bakeries and other eateries in the district also have been allowed to function adhering to Covid protocol. Dine-in facility is also allowed. The time restriction for parcel service has been withdrawn.
Until September 20, 50 persons can attend marriage functions while 20 can attend funerals. From September 21, 100 people can attend marriage-funeral functions adhering to COVID protocols.
However, no permission has been granted for the functioning of educational institutions, coaching centers, movie halls, swimming pools and entertainment parks. Open air theatres will be allowed to function from September 21.
Meanwhile, all restrictions will continue in containment zones. Action will be taken against violators under Epidemic Diseases Act of 1897, Disaster Management Act of 2005 and IPC Section 188, Collector added.
