Perunna: NSS general secretary G Sukumaran Nair responded to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s remark that the frequent criticism against the government is making the public suspicious about the stand of NSS.
Sukumaran Nair made it clear that NSS has never responded about the activities of the government or other controversies. NSS is still following the equidistance policy. Those who believe that they can frighten NSS leaders through these statements are living in a fool’s paradise, he stated.
The Chief Minister had said the other day that the stand taken by the NSS towards the government is noticed by the public and Sukumaran Nair should take note of it.
Sukumaran Nair said that the NSS had demanded three things from the government. Firstly, the government should take a stand favourable to the believers in Sabarimala women entry issue. Secondly, the 10 percent financial reservation implemented by the central government should be imposed in Kerala too. Thirdly, the previous government had declared the birth anniversary of Mannath Padmanabhan a holiday and this should be included under the negotiable instrumentation act.
NSS has been discussing these three matters only. Those who criticize us should clarify what politics is involved in this. The public has no doubt on this, Sukumaran said.
