New Delhi: Police recovered the suicide note of the Malayali student who died by suicide at a hostel of Lovely Professional University in Punjab on Wednesday. Akhil S Dileep (21), a Cherthala native, was found hanging in his hostel room on Tuesday afternoon.
Akhil, a former student at NIT Kozhikode joined the college in Punjab after getting expelled from NIT. In his suicide note, he accused a professor of Kozhikode NIT of expelling him from the college.
Akhil claims that Professor Prasad Krishna emotionally misled him to discontinue his education at NIT Kozhikode. It is learnt that the course director at NIT refused him to continue his studies after failing a few exams. After getting expelled from NIT, he joined the B-Design course at Lovely Professional University in Punjab.
In the suicide note, he also declared that he made a wrong decision and caused hardship for others. The family also identified the handwriting in the suicide note as that of Akhil.
As the news of the student's suicide came to light, other students staged a protest inside the campus. Students, including girls, came out of their hostels and raised slogans such as "We want justice" while security guards of the university tried to pacify them. Police personnel was also deployed on the university campus to bring the situation under control.
