Suicide due to refusal of bank loan; Help pours in by way of cash, gold
Thrissur: People from all walks of life came forward to help the family of Vipin (25), who committed suicide on Monday for not getting a loan to his sister's wedding. The Majlis Park Charitable Trust in Thrissur has announced a financial assistance of Rs 2.5 lakh for the marriage of Vipin's sister. Further, Kalyan Jewelers has announced that the girl will be given five sovereigns as wedding gift and Malabar Gold will offer three sovereigns.
Meanwhile, the fiance of Vipin’s sister responded that his family didn’t demand any dowry from Vipin’s family. He said that he wasn’t aware of any financial difficulties the family faced.
The groom said he would not withdraw from the marriage and it would be conducted after Vipin's final rituals are completed.
Vipin (25) hanged himself in his house after leaving his mother and sister at a jewellery shop in Thrissur where they went to buy wedding jewellery together. He had sought a loan from a bank for his sister's wedding.
On Monday, he had gone to a jewellery shop with his mother and sister to buy gold for the wedding after getting information that his loan was approved. After picking up the jewellery, Vipin left, assuring his family that he could come back with money immediately.
However, he was later informed by the bank that the loan could not be sanctioned. It is believed that the mental stress following this might have led him to commited suicide. Later, the family found hanged himself in the house.
