The girl attempted suicide on Friday and hospitalised in a critical condition.

Thiruvananthapuram: A Class X girl student of Trinity Lyceum School who jumped from the third storey of the school building breathed her last at a private hospital on Monday at about 2.30 am in Thiruvananthapuram. The girl Gauri Neha, 15, attempted suicide on Friday and was hospitalised in a critical condition. She is a native of Ramankulangara.

The girl had suffered grievous injuries on her head and spine. She also sustained bone fracture on her hand. After recording the statement of the girl’s father in Thiruvananthapuram, the police decided to book cases.

Police have booked a case against 2 faculty members, Sindhu and Crescent, on charges of abetting suicide. Both the teachers had mentally tortured the girl, according to the girl’s father.

The girl’s sibling, studying in 8th class at the same school, was made to sit in the midst of boys as a form of punishment for speaking in the class. It was teacher Crescent who gave this punishment. The girl informed this to her parents who came to the school and the issue was sorted out. But a similar situation again arose and the girl informed this to her sister.

As the siblings were teased by their friends, they entered into a verbal spat. The teachers had reprimanded them and the girl’s father told police that his daughter jumped from the building as she was mentally harassed by the teacher.
