K Sudhakaran
New Delhi: KPCC president K Sudhakaran on Wednesday warned former union minister and party veteran KV Thomas of stringent action if he violates party diktat to attend a seminar organised by CPM as part of its Party Congress in Kannur. He said Thomas would be expelled from the party if he goes to the event.
He can attend the event only if he decides to go out of the party. I don't think he has any such plans, Sudhakaran said. Many Congress workers were killed in Kannur. No party leader can go to a CPM stage forgetting all those. We would not have taken such a strong position if the Party Congress was held outside Kerala, he said.
Thomas on Tuesday had said that the high command has not conveyed to him its decision on the request to attend the programme. He said there is still time to decide on it. Meanwhile, CPM retained the name of the Congress leader in the poster. Earlier, MP Shashi Tharoor had rejected the invitation based on the communication from the party's high command.
KPCC was up in the arms against the leaders for agreeing to attend the event. Sudhakaran warned the leaders of action and asked them to get the approval of Sonia Gandhi. Tharoor and Thomas then wrote to the party president seeking the nod.
