Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president K Sudhakaran sought an explanation from chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan for the 'government’s hesitance' in appointing a new special prosecutor in the actress attack case. Two special prosecutors have resigned during the entire span of the case. Sudhakaran opined that if the government is with the survivor, then it would have appointed a new prosecutor following the resignation of the special prosecutor.
“There is a mystery in the way they attempted to settle the case by submitting the charge sheet hastily. The government submitted the final report without conducting a detailed investigation even after crucial evidence in the case came out. The government has been acting in a way that has been denying justice to the survivor,” Sudhakaran criticised.
He said that the CM should also answer why the government did not seek extra time to complete the probe. He also added that Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, EP Jayarajan and Minister Antony Raju must apologise for snubbing and insulting the actress.
“The direction of the probe that was heading the right way took a turn when it started to point towards certain people. Police themselves have revealed in the court that certain VIPs have to be questioned over the case. Why are the CM and the police fearing these people? The CM should not forget the rumours that the investigation went awry following the recent appointment made in CM’s office,” Sudhakaran remarked
