Students rescue drowning man from temple pond in Palakkad

Palakkad: In a timely action, P Kiran and T Vaishnav, saved a man from drowning at Kodarmanna Mahavishnu Temple pond in Palakkad’s Punchappadam.

The incident happened on Sunday at around 5:30 pm. The duo saw a 45-year-old man struggling in the middle of the pond and dived immediately to rescue him. They grabbed the man and pulled him out of the pond. Onlookers threw a dhoti and lifted the person from the pond.

The person was among the six-member group which visited the temple pond. While others waited on the side of the pond, the man took a swim which led to the mishap. The group came to see the pond when they visited their family member’s home at Kattukulam village.

Interestingly, amid the confusion, the duo even missed to enquire about the whereabouts of the rescued person. “We only know that the person is from Cheruppalasery and works in Bengaluru. We know Jayan who was part of that group. They thanked us and took a photograph with us. We do not know their address or any other details,” said Kiran and Vaishnav.

P Kiran is a student of Government Higher Secondary School Vellinezhi and son of Sharathkunnu Balasubramanyan and Shanthakumari. While T Vaishnav is a student of M.E.S College Cherpulassery, and son of Thanikkaparamb Balakrishnan and Nirmala.
